Nature Experience Play Equipment Garden in Aichi Prefecture

A quiet, clear river bend in Shinshiro where locals have long cooled off amid forested hills and mountain air.
Located along a gentle curve of the river in Shinshiro, Aichi Prefecture, Rio para Nadar offers a rare chance to swim in naturally filtered mountain water surrounded by cedar forest. Unlike crowded beach resorts, this spot remains a local secret prized for its cool, shallow pools and smooth river stones. The monument marker at the site commemorates the river’s long role in community life, from traditional fishing to summer recreation.
Swim in the main pool where the current slows enough for safe floating. Walk the short riverside path that leads upstream to smaller cascades and shaded picnic rocks. In autumn, the surrounding hills turn red and gold, making the water even more striking. Photographers often capture the contrast between the clear stream and the dense green valley walls.
July through early September brings the warmest water temperatures and longest daylight. Late spring offers fewer people and blooming azaleas along the banks, while October provides quieter swims with colorful foliage. Avoid visiting after heavy rain, when the current strengthens.
Take the JR Iida Line to Shinshiro Station, then a local bus or short taxi ride toward the river valley. The final approach is on foot along a narrow lane that ends at a small parking area. Renting a car from Toyohashi or Nagoya gives the most flexibility for combining the swim with nearby forest roads.
