Why Puig d’en Company Stands Out

At 400 metres, Puig d’en Company rises above the almond groves and pine woods of Mallorca’s Serra de Llevant, offering hikers a compact but rewarding climb with 360-degree vistas that stretch from the Mediterranean to the distant Tramuntana peaks. Unlike busier summits such as Puig de Sant Salvador, this lesser-visited mountain delivers solitude and wide-open scenery without crowds.

The Hiking Experience

The main route begins near the village of Felanitx and follows a well-marked path through terraced olive and carob terraces before entering Aleppo pine forest. The ascent is steady rather than steep, with occasional rocky steps that reward steady footing. On clear days the summit cairn frames views of Cabrera island to the south and the Bay of Palma to the west. Spring brings wild orchids and rosemary in bloom; autumn offers cooler temperatures and fewer insects.

Getting There

Drive southeast from Palma via the Ma-19 motorway, exiting toward Felanitx. Continue on the Ma-4010 past the town and watch for a small signed parking area on the left shortly after kilometre 12. No regular bus service reaches the trailhead, so a rental car or taxi from Felanitx (10 minutes) is the most reliable option. From the parking spot a clear path leads directly uphill.

Best Time to Visit

October through June offers the most comfortable conditions. July and August bring intense heat and little shade on the upper slopes; start at dawn if visiting in summer. Winter days are often crisp and clear, though occasional rain can make the path slippery.

Combine the hike with a visit to the dramatic Santuari de Sant Salvador monastery, 15 minutes north, or the coastal town of Porto Colom for fresh seafood and a harbour stroll. The wine route around Felanitx and the nearby Dragon Caves provide additional half-day options.
